Greece: Doctors Said 24-hour Strike

In Greece, the doctors of hospitals throughout the country began a 24-hour strike against the mental health bill, which was made to vote in parliament.

at the call of the Greek Federation of hospitals (Oengε) and the Atheno-Pirean Union of Hospital doctors (EINAP), the doctors began a 24-hour strike to respond to a bill proving to changes in the field of mental health.

Doctors and employees of the organizations to combat dependencies gathered in the Sintagma Square in Athens to express a protest to the government.

Demonstrators argue that the adoption of the bill will have destructive consequences for mental health and prevention of dependencies and worsen the existing system in these areas.

The new bill provides for the closure of two state hospitals in Athens, the termination of free treatment programs and the transfer of doctors to other institutions or cities.
