Ankara and Athens must maintain and develop a constructive and positive atmosphere in bilateral relations. This was stated by Greece President Katerina Sakelapulu at a meeting with Turkish colleague Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Athens.
According to her, the first visit of the President of Turkey to Greece “reflects this positive attitude over the past 6 years.”
“Greece and Turkey, more importantly, it is important to develop the existing positive political will with Turkey,” she said.
She noted that the peoples of the two countries have demonstrated solidarity against the backdrop of natural disasters that occurred in Turkey and Greece this year. “The tragedies experienced in our countries this year demonstrated that the sense of solidarity and support in difficult conditions is a common feature uniting two peoples,” added Sakelapulu.
According to the President of Greece, this situation creates a strong basis for deepening bilateral cooperation, creating an atmosphere that will eliminate tension and strengthen “mutual political will.”
“I believe that interaction and cooperation with this vision will help maintain peace and prosperity in the region and raise its development to an even higher level,” expressed confidence to Sakelaropulu.
