Greece will not transfer to Ukraine the anti-aircraft missile systems (air defense systems) S-300.
This was stated by the Minister of National Defense of Greece Nikos Panayotopoulos in an interview with ERT 1.
to the question whether the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken asked to send the S-300 to Ukraine during a visit to Athens, Panayotopulos replied that Greece “could not do this in no way, weakening its defense system.”
“S -300 was acquired and profitable to Greece for certain reasons, and while these reasons exist, we are not going to agree to any weakening of our defense system,” the minister emphasized.
At the same time, he explained that the support of the S-300 complexes in Greece is becoming more and more difficult “:” If we reach the point when the support of these systems becomes impossible, we will either solve the problem of their support or replace them. We have not yet reached them. this moment “.
Greece since the 1990s has been located with anti-aircraft missile systems S-300PMU-1 “Favorit”, “OSA-ACM” and “Thor-M1”. In December 2013, the Greek military held Acrotiri at the Crete Island Predict shooting using the S-300.
