Union of editors of the daily Athenian newspapers ESIEA and collaborating with him Association announced a 24-hour strike, RIA Novosti reports.
The strike is held in connection from May 1 – International Day of Memory about the struggle of workers for collective and personal rights, social justice and peace, health and safety. Pervomaic shares of workers were postponed on May 4, since May Day fell on a non-working day.
From six o’clock in the morning on May 4, the strike began in most Greek media. Exception – journalists who illuminate the strike and information of the Ministry of Health about the coronavirus pandemic.
Like other trade unions, representatives of the media require for all Greek working people of the following rights: a stable five-day 40-hour working week, an increase in the obligatory time of recreation and increase payment of overtime, strengthening the protection of employees from dismissal.
On May 4, Greek trade unions hold rallies do not intend, but they will be held on May 6. On this day, the strike will be held by the Supreme Council of the Union of civil servants.
