Gutherrish Urged To Hold Guilty In Violence In Syria

The UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterres condemned violence in the coastal regions of Syria and called for prosecution of those responsible for violations.

GUTERRASH said this in his message on the X platform, expressing concern about the events taking place in Tartus, Laziye and Homs. “The bloodshed must be immediately terminated. It is necessary to protect civilians. The perpetrators in violations must be held accountable,” he said.

The Syrian authorities began large -scale operations in the coastal region after the rebel attack on the city of Jeble in the province of Laziye on March 6, in which at least 11 security officers were killed. As a result of hostilities, hundreds of people died, including many civilians.

Syria President Ahmed al-Sharaa called for the unity of the country and noted the importance of protecting citizens, while the Syrian authorities created a commission to investigate possible violations from security forces and to hold the perpetrators to be liable.

Operations of the Syrian army in the coastal areas ended on March 10, as official sources reported.
