Expert of the Ministry of Health, gynecologist Nigar Akhundova answered in an interview published on the department’s website, questions related to pregnancy.
to the question, in which the pregnancy is considered risky, N. Akhundova stated the following: “Determining risk groups during pregnancy is one of the most important factors. These risk groups are determined by the doctor as an obstetrician-gynecologist and are carried out within the framework of the perinatal concept adopted throughout the world. Risk groups during pregnancy – this concept in medicine is necessary in order to minimize the possibility of developing complications during the gestation of a child, which can subsequently lead to premature childbirth, congenital pathologies or death of the fetus. Groups exist to determine pregnancy requiring special observation of specialists. But it does not mean at all that the expectant mother will have health problems.
one of the most important problems for these risk groups, which largely determines the general course of bearing the fetus is the age of the woman. If the expectant mother is younger than 18 years or older than 38, she falls at risk and needs special observation. Because they often have complications (gestational hypertension and preeclampsia/eclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, fetal development, psychological problems). In addition, the birth of a 5th or 6th child may be accompanied by pathologies such as the congenital heater of the fetus, obstetric bleeding (premature detachment of the placenta, hypotonic and atonic bleeding), premature birth, etc.
The next risk group is a multiple pregnancy (pregnancy, in which two or more fetus develops in the uterine cavity). Multiplotion is a high degree of risk. The risk of multiple pregnancy is to increase the likelihood of premature birth or miscarriage by 40 percent. In addition, with multiple, pregnant women often have problems with pressure, swelling and kidney infections. As a result, newborns can be born with extremely low body weight and intrauterine development pathologies. “
