Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Fidan spoke at the opening of a ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of the Alliance of the United Nations Civilizations (UN) in Portugal.
In his speech, the minister said: “Crimes against humanity cannot remain unpunished. If justice does not triumph, this situation will lead to a break in generations, which will impede the chances of establishing peace in the Middle East.”
According to him, the vision of the alliance of civilizations during a period when the international system is greatly fragmented due to lasting wars, especially in the Middle East, is subjected to increasing attacks on all fronts. Crimes against humanity cannot remain unpunished. If justice does not triumph, this will prevent the achievement of peace in the Middle East. That is why, at such a critical moment, the “Alliance” should speak louder than ever that his message is heard loudly and clearly. That is why our alliance should be stronger, more noticeable and more effective in solving all the problems that interfere with the dialogue and understanding. “
The Foreign Minister of Turkey added that members of the group of friends should strengthen responsibility for the implementation of the concept of “Alliance” in multilateral and national forums.
Hakan Fidan noted that the Alliance should also receive adequate financial support.
“Support of the Alliance will be an investment in our future, peace and harmony. Turkey will continue to provide decisive support to the Alliance, and we expect the same support from you,” he said.
