Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said: “The peace and stability of Kirkuk directly affect the world and stability of the whole Iraq. We consider Kirkuk as a symbol of the culture of peaceful coexistence.”
Fidan spoke at a joint press conference organized after his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahiyan in Tehran.
noting that Kirkuk is a kind of Iraq model from the point of view of ethnic and confessional composition, Fidan said: “Peace and stability in Kirkuk directly affect the world and stability throughout Iraq. We consider Kirkuk as a symbol of the culture of peaceful coexistence.”
Fidan added that the government created under the leadership of Prime Minister Iraq Muhammad Shia al-Sudani brought stability to the country: “We support the efforts that he and his government in the field of restoration of infrastructure and attract investment. We are aware of how important it is For the present and future Iraq. In such a period, with sadness and great concern, we observe the occurrence of tension leading to human victims in Kirkuk, which is the birthplace of our Turkman compatriots, which are one of the indigenous and fundamental elements of Iraq. “
Stressing that the opinion of the need to avoid such tension was previously expressed in the Iraqi authorities, the Foreign Minister of Turkey said:
“We demand that the Iraqi authorities put an end to the presence of the RSC in the city, which has recently intensified. Kirkuk is an ancient city that has recently survived great suffering and mass killings. We believe that it is necessary to maintain a fragile social balance in this city and grant all social strata to the equal right of voting in issues of representative office and management. In this regard, we support the formula for the long -known formula to you, which ensures equal representation of all segments of the population in the city and their participation in management.
