The Foreign Minister of Turkey Hakan Fidan took part in the meeting of foreign ministers of the countries of the quartet of the community of the Latin America and the Caribbean (CELAC) in New York.
This was reported on the page of the press service of the Turkish Foreign Ministry on the social network H. The meeting was held on the fields of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to diplomatic sources, the provisions of a joint declaration were discussed, the last of which was published according to the results of the 4th meeting held in Istanbul on April 21, 2017, as well as other urgent problems of the global agenda.
CELAC was founded in December 2011 to deepen integration in Latin America. The organizations of the organization are all countries of Latin America and the Caribbean region. CELAC holds meetings in the “CELAC” quartet format with the countries with which the organization has a mechanism of bilateral cooperation.
Türkiye also attaches great importance to cooperation with regional organizations within its framework for expansion policies against Latin America and the Caribbean basin.
In this context between Turkey and Celac, meetings of Foreign Ministers of the Quartet Turkey-CELAC were held.
The first three of the meetings were held in the fields of the UN General Assembly in 2013, 2015 and 2016. The fourth meeting was held in Istanbul on April 21, 2017. According to the results of the meeting, the joint declaration said that between Turkey and CeLAC a “mechanism of political dialogue and constant cooperation” is established.
