As already reported Haqqin.az in Armenia is persecuted by a member of the Union of Journalists, the famous telecommatant Nairi Okikan. As noted in the reports of Armenian media, Nairi Okikyan has been persecuted after removing a documentary about the second Karabakh war. In his film, the journalist subjected to a tough criticism of the Armenian authorities.
According to the Union of Journalists of Armenia, on July 29, 2021, the journalist was delivered to interrogate in the National Security Service. During the interrogation, the investigators confiscated a journalist smartphone.
As follows from the statement of the Union of Journalists of Armenia, N. Spikeyan was not informed about the materials of the initiated criminal case and left the building of the SNB in the status of the Suspect. The journalist smartphone contained numerous personal and professional information.
Paradoxically, but the persecution of the Armenian television journalist due to professional activities remained out of sight of international human rights organizations. In this regard, the editors of HaqQin.Az sent requests to authoritative international NGOs, whose main responsibility is to protect human rights and, in particular, freedom of speech.
On our request, we received an answer from the International Organization without Borders based in France. In a letter directed on behalf of the Eastern Europe and Central Asian department, it is said:
“Thank you for told us about the case of Nairi Ohikana. First of all, we will prepare tweet, which will publish in French, English and Russian to report his business.
We will send you a link to tweet and let us report if there are any updates. “
Thus, as a result of the activity of our edition, the reporters without borders organization finally learned that journalists were persecuted in Armenia for their professional activities and freedom of speech in this country needed to protect against state encroachment.
We will continue to inform our readers about the peripetias of this case.
