The Supreme Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel proposed using 90% of the profit from frozen assets of the Russian Federation to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
The politician announced this in his account on the social network x.
“Today I have submitted to the Council (European Union) an offer to use income from frozen assets of Russia to support Ukraine in its struggle. 90% will be allocated through the European Fund of the World, and 10% – through the EU budget.” Wrote Borrel.
According to the media, we are talking about securities and money of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in the amount of 190 billion euros.
EU countries will first discuss this issue at the Summit of the Community Leaders on March 21. However, an immediate adoption of the relevant decision is not expected.
