Head Of Ministry Of Economy Armenia: Yerevan Is Not Going To Leave EAEU

Yerevan is not going to leave the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was announced at a press conference by the Minister of Economics of Armenia Gevorg Pakoyan, reports TASS.

“We do not want to replace the EAEU. We want to be independent, and independence means that you are not dependent on one country, but depends on all and all depend on you. We need to become a country where if something is with us Something will happen to the economies of other countries. and then nothing will happen to us, ”he said.

According to Papoyan, Armenia must maintain, develop and increase the level of relations with the EAEU, as well as build relations with other structures.

Note that on January 9, the Armenian government approved the draft decision on the beginning of the process of joining the EU. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan noted that “this does not mean Armenia membership in the European Union in the literal sense of the word, since the decision on this issue can be made only by referendum.”

As the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk stated, Russia considers the discussion in Armenia a bill on entry into the EU as the beginning of the exit of the republic from the EAEU. According to him, joining the EU is incompatible with the country’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
