The Customs Union between Turkey and the European Union (EU) celebrates 30 years from the date of its creation. This was stated by the Minister of Trade of Turkey Omer Bolat on Thursday, March 6th.
“Now we are working on updating the Customs Union, paying special attention to green and digital transformation, as well as competitiveness. We are determined to strengthen our partnership and integration in the process leading to membership, based on a more stable, inclusive and stable trade structure and economic security,” the minister wrote on the social network.
Bolat noted that the Customs Union has been operating for 30 years and during this period the turnover has demonstrated balanced and stable growth.
The minister recalled that the volume of trade with the EU, which amounted to $ 27 billion in 1995, had grown eight times by 2024 and reached $ 220 billion. Bolat also emphasized the need to deepen economic integration.
