Turkey is interested in the naval gas fields in Egypt for supplying hydrocarbons through Turkish floating vaults LNG (FSRU).
This was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayractar. The head of the department became a guest of a round table in the agency “Anadol” (aa).
The minister pointed out the normalization of relations between Turkey and Egypt. Bayractar recalled that the parties recently signed agreements in the field of energy.
According to him, that Turkey and Egypt have the potential of cooperation in the oil and gas sphere and are working on projects in this area.
Touching upon energy cooperation with Iraq, he noted that this country exports 3 million barrels of oil into knocks, of which only 15 thousand falls to the share of Turkey. According to him, this is too insignificant volume and its increase is necessary.
The Minister recalled that the length of the Turkish part of the old oil pipeline Kirkuk-Murtalyk (from Silop to Jaikhan) is 650 km, and its throughput is 1.4 million barrels per day.
According to him, Turkey invites Iraqi partners to “turn the project” Development Road “into an energy road.” He noted that this issue acquired particular relevance after a visit to Iraq by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The head of the department added that the export of electricity from Turkey to Iraq is 300 megavatts. At the same time, he pointed out the presence of opportunities to increase this indicator.
The Minister said that the German company Siemens deals with the supply of key equipment for the construction of the first Turkish nuclear power plant – Akkui NPP. “Unfortunately, this leads to a slowdown in the pace of construction,” he added.
He emphasized that in relation to the actions of the company from the Turkish side, the reaction will follow and measures will be taken.
At the same time, he noted that the construction of the first power unit of nuclear power plants was completed by 90 percent.
The head of the Ministry of Energy also said that the Turkish ship Oruç Reis will go to the banks of Somalia in late September- early October for seismic research.
