Head of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey explained successful fight against drug trafficking

Turkey is actively fighting drug trafficking, which has significantly reduced the threat that drugs pose for the security of the state and the health of citizens. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkey Suleiman Soil at a briefing in the province of Gaziantep.

According to him, currently in Turkish prison for illegal production and sales of narcotic drugs, 126 thousand people are serving a sentence.

“The law enforcement agencies conduct a large -scale struggle against drug trafficking, within which abandoned residential buildings are demolished, where drug addicts are often collected. 110 thousand of 124 thousand similar buildings are demolished or rebuilt. The remaining 14 thousand will be demolished in the near future,” – The minister said.

The minister emphasized that over the past 6 years, the number of deaths due to drug use in Turkey has decreased from 941 to 270 per year.

Soil emphasized that Turkey has achieved great success in the fight against drug trafficking, eliminated great threats.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that in the last anti -drug operation, 1529 law enforcement officers were involved.

The law enforcement forces managed to detain 149 people involved in drug trafficking, Soyl said.
