Russia wants to propose to Ukraine a peace agreement following the example of the separation of Korea. This was stated by the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Alexei Danilov.
“We are now offered the Korean version. The so-called conditional 38th parallel. Here are such Ukrainians, but here are not such Ukrainians. Russians will now come up with anything. I know for sure that one of the options that they can offer us “This is the 38th parallel,” said Danilov, whose words are given by Ukrainian media.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council also noted that South Korea officials in a conversation with him regretted their predecessors who agreed to divide the state with a demilitarized zone. “They believe that then a big mistake was made that they made concessions. Today they have problems,” the Ukrainian official said.
“38th parallel” – the unofficial name of the border separating the DPRK and South Korea. It was formed after the signing of the United States and the USSR agreement on the joint management of the country, the name was received due to passing the 38th parallel of northern latitude.
From 1950 to 1953, a war was filed between the North and South Korea, provoked by an attempt by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of North Korea Kim Il In to unite Korea under the rule of the Communists. The result of the conflict was the final division of the Korean Peninsula into two states, after which the fighting was actually terminated (representatives of South Korea did not sign the 1953 arrest agreement).
