The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, said that the special forces of his department made three attempts to attack the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. He told about this in an interview with NV.
According to Budanov, in August 2022, the GUR special forces crossed the Kakhovskoye reservoir in the Energodar area by high -speed boats to create a bridgehead on the left bank to try to capture ZAES. Then they were forced to retreat.
After that, the GUR made two more attempts to land on the left bank of the Dnieper in order to capture the ZAES. During the third attempt of the Ukrainian side, Russian forces brought heavy equipment to the shore, including tanks, so the Ukrainian special forces retreated.
On an attempt to land the landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the left bank of the Kakhovsky reservoir and the seizure of the ZAES was reported on October 19, 2022, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
