Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal held a video conference with the US Minister of Finance Janet Yellen.
“We discussed topical issues. We closely cooperate with the IMF and the EU on joint financing programs and count on further support from the United States. This is critical to maintain the macro -financial stability of our state,” the head of the Ukrainian government wrote in telegram.
The Ukrainian prime minister also noted a high level of cooperation with the special representative of the United States on the economic recovery of Ukraine Penni Prosker over the implementation of steps and reforms for the growth of the economy.
Parties focused on the issue of confiscating Russian assets and the directions of these funds to support Ukraine.
“We already have the first similar decision from the United States. I am grateful to the United States and personally Ms. Yellen for leading this initiative among the G7 countries. We are making joint efforts to force the aggressor to pay,” Shmygal said.
According to him, Yellen also praised the progress of Ukraine in the implementation of reforms and structural beacons and assured that Ukraine’s support remains a priority for President Joe Biden and the US government.
The press service of the US Treasury noted that “Minister Yellen confirmed the efforts of the administration for providing direct budget support in the amount of $ 11.8 billion as part of an additional request to Congress in the field of national security and emphasized the importance of the speedy approval of financial assistance to Ukraine” .
