Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jahun Bayramov, as part of a visit to Brussels, met with the Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic said that the parties discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, including cooperation in the field of energy and transport corridors, the process of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan and the current situation in the region.
The meeting emphasized the significance of the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Brussels, which took place after an almost nine -month break, in terms of promoting a peaceful agenda. Bayramov emphasized the commitment of Azerbaijan to normalize relations between the two countries based on the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the prevention of attempts to interfere with the process, including the last provocations of Armenia, is important. At the same time, the importance of eliminating the mine threat from Armenia was noted.
The parties also noted the importance of the speedy completion of negotiations on a new agreement, which will become the legal basis for relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
The meeting also took an exchange of views on other issues representing mutual interest.
