Hillary Clinton Reacted To Adoption Of Bill Requiring Confirmation Of Citizenship

The former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton responded to the adoption of a bill in the House of Representatives, which requires evidence of US citizenship when registering for voting in the elections.

In her post, published on the social network X, Clinton drew attention to the fact that women, as a rule, when they join the marriage, change their surnames, and their previous initials are indicated in birth certificates, which in turn may make it difficult to vote for women.

According to the former US Secretary of State, the House of Representatives adopted a “measure that jeopardizes the right to vote” millions of Americans, including 69 million women. “Make sure your senators know what you expect from them to speak against this,” she said.

The House of US Representatives, in which Republicans predominate, approved a bill requiring evidence of citizenship for voting, which is one of the priorities of President Donald Trump. In support of the bill, 220 lawmakers spoke, “against” – 208.

The report published in 2023 by the Brennan Justice Center in New York, it is said that more than 21 million US citizens have difficulties with access to documents confirming the existence of citizenship, for such reasons as loss, destruction or theft.
