The European Union should be abandoned by the introduction of a larger number of sanctions against Russia and instead contribute to negotiations, said the senior adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister Balazh Orban.
At the same time, the agency clarifies that he is not a relative of the head of the Hungarian government Viktor Orban.
“In the end, Europe will be on the side of the losers in this war due to economic problems. We would recommend stopping the sanctions process,” said Balazh Orban.
He emphasized that with an increase in the number of sanctions, the European economy suffers more and more. At the same time, Russia, despite the fact that it also causes her damage, “survives”, noted the Hungarian politician.
According to him, the European Union followed the tactics of sanction pressure for four months, having achieved certain successes, but the continuation will turn into even greater damage to Europe itself.
Hungary did not, along with the rest of the EU countries, impose sanctions against Russia, in particular, she did not agree to the embargo of energy carriers. As a result, a partial ban on the import of Russian oil entered the sixth package of EU sanctions, but the supply of the Druzhba oil pipeline was excluded from it, which Budapest insisted on. According to Reuters, the EU is now discussing the seventh package of restrictions against Russia, and considers the opportunity to include gold in it. At the same time, it is unclear whether this will assume the ban on export to Russia or import from it.
