The leadership of the European Union decided to freeze Hungary’s assistance due to the systemic risk of corruption and inappropriate expenditure of EU funds, and equates to Euronews.
According to the report, the European Commission recommended freezing 7.5 billion euros from the unit funds for Hungary and 5.8 billion euros from the recovery plan until reforms in justice and combat corruption are properly carried out.
The EC considered that the measures taken by the Hungarian government are insufficient to solve problems. At the same time, Budapest was sure that they would be able to avoid financial sanctions by the EU. The Hungarian government presented a package of new anti -corruption measures in just a day after the European Commission proposed to suspend the financing allocated to the country.
