The Hungarian government will not allow the European Union to introduce new sanctions against Russia, which may threaten Russian gas supplies to the country. This was stated by the head of the office of Hungarian Prime Minister Gergei Guyyash, foreign media write.
“We will continue to impose a veto on any European sanctions regarding the supply of Russian gas,” he said.
The official noted that cooperation with the Russian Gazprom and gas supply are in no way connected with Budapest’s views on the Ukrainian conflict. Hungary condemns Russia’s actions, but sanctions against Russian gas are harmful to all European countries.
