The passage of cold atmospheric fronts through the territory of Azerbaijan led to a significant decrease in air temperature, as well as to storm rains. In some regions of Azerbaijan, in two days the amount of precipitation exceeded the monthly norm, said the head of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan Umaira Tagieva.
According to Tagieva, the largest amount of precipitation fell in Lenkorani – 80 mm (136 percent of the monthly norm), Astara – 59 mm (117 percent), Sheki – 62 mm (74 percent).
“On September 6, a hail with a diameter of 12 mm fell on the territory of the Kedabek district. The air temperature was 4.6 degrees below the climatic norm. Unstable weather conditions with periodic precipitation will continue until noon on September 8,” Tagieva said.
Over the past ten years, such weather conditions in the first decade of September have been recorded in 2016, Tagieva reminded
