The speaker of the Armenia parliament Alain Simonyan evaded the wording “Karabakh will not be part of Azerbaijan,” as this may interfere with the negotiation process.

The journalists question about why the current authorities no longer declare that Karabakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan, how they did it during the election campaign, Simonyan replied that the situation is changing every minute.

“Now Armenia says that there is an Armenian population who has rights,” the Sputnik quotes him.

from the point of view of the speaker of the parliament, to say that “Karabakh will not be part of Azerbaijan” means drawing some line in negotiations and abandoning further dialogue.

Simonyan recalled that he holds the post of chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia and does not act as a negotiator. At the same time, his statements can affect the process and limit the capabilities of the Armenian side.
