One of the largest Chess.com chess sites is unavailable in Russia due to the blocking Roskomnadzor.
Roskomnadzor blocked two page pages with articles “Ukrainian chess players during the war” and “On War in Ukraine”, writes “Medusa”. On April 23, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation made a decision to block the pages. Since the site uses the HTTPS network protocol, blocking one of its pages led to the full site lock.
Since the beginning of the war, Chess.com stated that he would not block players from Russia and Belarus on its resource, except for those who fell under sports sanctions. In April, the site changed images of flags from Russian and Belarusian players to neutral.
Previously block Chess.com called on Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin, who actively advocates in support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and promises to create his own analogue of chess.com.
