From June 1 to 8 this year, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conducted another large -scale audit ICAO Coordinated Validation Missions for compliance with international security standards in the field of civil aviation in Azerbaijan as part of a universal security audit program.
During the audit, compliance with international standards for ensuring flight safety and organizing state control was consistently checked for eight critical elements. These elements include the legislation, organizational structure, control of flight performance, control of flight fitness of aircraft, control of air navigation standards, control of airfield operators, registration of certificates, investigation of aviation accidents.
According to the results of the audit lasting more than three months, according to the preliminary report of the ICAO validation committee of September 26, 2022, the effective implementation of the flight safety management system in the Azerbaijan Republic and compliance with ICAO standards was established at the level of 80 percent.
This indicator is 5 percent higher than the average world and European indicators set by ICAO until 2025, and is considered a very good achievement. At the same time, this indicator significantly exceeds the correspondence of 66 percent, determined as a result of the last audit conducted in Azerbaijan in 2018.
In connection with the positive results of the ICAO audit, I sent a letter to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MCT) and congratulated the Azerbaijani government and the State Civil Aviation Agency under the ICTS with the successes achieved. The letter also expressed a willingness to discuss the areas of activity to further build up the control potential of the agency.
