“Azerbaijan is interested in expanding cooperation to solve the environmental problems of the Caspian Sea.” This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during a speech at the VI summit of the heads of the Caspian states in Ashgabat.
The head of state noted that the successful interaction of the Caspian states is currently ongoing as part of the Commission for the preservation, rational use of the aquatic biological resources of the Caspian.
“At the end of this year, it was planned to hold the 6th conference of the parties to the paramilitary Convention to protect the marine environment of the Caspian Sea. Today, at a meeting in a narrow format, colleagues and I exchanged on the issue that causes special anxiety, namely, on the shallowing Caspian Sea. We have been observing this for many years and, unfortunately, the dynamics of the shallowing is alarming. Therefore, we have already exchanged views and, probably, our delegations will continue to work in this direction in terms of creating special expert groups so that the reasons for such an environmental are revealed The disasters and measures are determined to prevent further shallowing of the Caspian, ”said Ilham Aliyev.
