In the final statement adopted after the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Council of the European Union on April 6, 2022, in particular, the beginning of negotiations on the development of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the creation of an appropriate working group.
The parties agreed to create a joint commission on border issues and, first of all, begin the process of delimitation of the border.
In accordance with the agreement reached, by order of the President of Azerbaijan dated May 23, 2022, the State Commission on Delimitation was created. A similar group is formed in Yerevan.
According to the agreement, the first meeting on the issues of delimitation was held on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. The meeting was an introductory nature and discussions held on it make it possible to judge that thorough work is necessary to determine a common position.
In addition, given the fact that Armenia contrary to its obligations prevents the implementation of the Zangesur corridor and does not fulfill other obligations, there are no guarantees that certain problems will not arise in this direction.
Time will tell whether any promotion at the meeting of the working group will be achieved on August 29.
Along with this, on August 31, with the support of the European Union in Brussels, a meeting is meant between the President of Azerbaijan, the President of the EU Council and the Prime Minister of Armenia.
