The rejection of Armenia from territorial claims to Azerbaijan will promote a peaceful agenda between the two countries.
President Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Thursday, June 20.
According to the press service of the head of the Azerbaijani state, the telephone conversation took place on the initiative of the American side.
The Secretary of State praised the results achieved in terms of promoting a peaceful agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Blinken emphasized that the United States is determined to continue to maintain the process of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan, and urged the parties to sign a peace agreement as soon as possible.
Secretary of State noted the significance that the United States gives bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, and emphasized constructive cooperation between the two countries in the direction of achieving joint goals in the field of climate and energy change.
Anthony Blinken said that Washington was playing for updated and stronger bilateral relations with Azerbaijan. The diplomat added that the United States will make every effort to successfully complete the COP29 conference, which will be held in Azerbaijan.
In turn, Aliyev noted that the world is provided in the region, and it is the Azerbaijani side that is the initiator of the principles and text of the peace agreement. The head of state emphasized that the efforts to promote the process of normalization and the peaceful agenda on a bilateral basis continue.
Highly assessing the determination of the United States to contribute to a peaceful agenda, the president noted the importance of terminating the territorial claims of Armenia to Azerbaijan in accordance with the Constitution, Laws and Internal Legal Acts in terms of promoting a peaceful agenda.
The president added that it was time to officially stop the activities of the non -functioning Minsk OSCE Minsk group for a long time and all the institutions associated with it in order to completely close the conflict page, which is a relic of the past.
Ilham Aliyev touched many years of successful cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, expressed satisfaction with effective cooperation between the delegations of the two countries as part of the process of preparing for COP29, and thanked the United States for his intention to support the successful completion of the conference.
The head of state said that Azerbaijan also attaches great importance to relations with the United States and advocates further strengthening bilateral relations and raising them to a new qualitative level.
During a telephone conversation, an exchange of views on such issues as human rights and democracy, respect for the supremacy of law and internal legislation of countries.
