Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to award a well -known sports specialist, titled coach for Firdovsi Umudov’s freestyle wrestling honorary title “Honored Worker of Physical Education and Sports”.
Firdovsi Umudov in the period from 1993 to 2005 has repeatedly become the champion of Azerbaijan in freestyle wrestling. As part of the Azerbaijani national team, he won the bronze of the European Championship, won the World Cup, became the silver medalist of the World Cup among students, won various international tournaments.
In the 2005-2008s, he was a coach and head coach of the youth team of Azerbaijan. In 2008-2016, he was the senior coach of the main team of Azerbaijan, and then, until 2018, was the head coach of the national freestyle wrestling team. After that, Firdovsi Umudov held the post of vice president of the Azerbaijani struggle federation.
In 2009, 2012 and 2015, F. Umudov was recognized as the best head coach of Azerbaijan. In 2012, he was also elected the best coach of the world, and is the only Azerbaijani who was awarded this title.
During his work, our athletes repeatedly climbed to the highest step of the podium at the Olympic Games, World Cup and Europe, at the World Cup.
Firdovsi Umudov – a master of sports, Honored Coach of Azerbaijan and a member of the Association of Coaches of the World Association of Wrestling.
In 2012, by order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, he was awarded the Order of Shokhret, in 2015 – “Honorary Diploma of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic”, in 2016 – the Teregga medal.
Since 2002, Firdovsi Umudov has been an employee of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan. He is the Deputy Head of the Serving Sports Center, the head of the sports department and the president of the professional sports club “Servi”.
The head of the State Border Service, Colonel General Elchin Guliev awarded F. Umudov the medal “For Merit in the Field of Military Cooperation” and the 2nd degree medal “For the difference in military service.”
In 2022, Firdovsi Umudov received the title of Colonel.
September 27, 2020, when the 44-day Patriotic War began, F. Umudov, like other border guards, carried out the tasks of the command on the front line and in the rear.
