Decisions made following negotiations in Sochi will contribute to a safer and predictable situation in the South Caucasus, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in a statement for the press on the results of the negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, reports TASS .
“Today was a detailed, I would say, sincere conversation. … We openly discussed our plans, openly discussed issues that are concerned about both parties. And the main thing is that the solutions we have accepted in resolving disputes, disagreements. I think they will contribute to the fact that the situation in the South Caucasus will be safer and predictable, “said Ilham Aliyev.
In Azerbaijan, set up to turn the page of many years of confrontation with Armenia and start the stage of normal interaction, said the head of state.
“I have repeatedly said that we are in Azerbaijan to turn the page of a long-term confrontation with Armenia, start the stage of normal interaction. I think that in such a [trilateral] format we achieve our goals,” said Azerbaijani leader.
“Azerbaijan always consistently advocated adherence to all humanitarian standards, whether during the fighting, whether after. I must say that after the end of hostilities, more than 100 detained Armenian soldiers were transferred to the Armenian side,” said Ilham Aliyev.
