The green transition was set in Azerbaijan as a goal, and in the country, with the participation of international partners, a serious export potential of green energy is created.
This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during the reception of a special adviser to the UN Secretary General for climatic actions and the fair transition of Selvin Charles Hart in Baku.
The head of state emphasized that by his positive example and green agenda, Azerbaijan contributes to the processes of climate change and climatic actions.
According to him, Azerbaijan, exporting oil and gas, demonstrates a successful development model, directing the income received in this area for the development of the country.
Aliyev said that recently with the joint participation of the Ministry of Energy and Economics of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the basis of the new project was laid down to transfer renewable energy resources of Central Asia at the bottom of the Caspian to Azerbaijan and their export from here to Europe.
The head of state emphasized that all the necessary work in connection with the preparation for COP29 continues according to the plan. Azerbaijan holds negotiations and consultations with the international community and institutions on substantive issues COP29.
Aliyev noted that the goal of Azerbaijan is to strengthen the solidarity and joint activities of the countries of the world in the issue of climate change.
“All countries of the world, including Azerbaijan, have been in negative effects and consequences of climate changes. So, in the last seven years, drought has been observed in Azerbaijan, the amount of precipitation has decreased significantly, and although this year there is an increase in the amount of precipitation, in general, in general Azerbaijan suffers from this, ”said Aliyev.
The president noted that there is a process of reducing the water level in the Caspian Sea, and this causes serious concern.
In turn, Charles Hart emphasized that the UN family was mobilized by the Secretary General to provide the necessary support to Azerbaijan in the COP29 process, a special working group was created.
According to him, the delegation of the UN Development Program (UNDP) will be visited in the near future Azerbaijan.
He noted that the effective management of Azerbaijan income from natural resources and their spending on socio-economic development is a successful example.
