Imam, Accompanying Street Musicians In United States, Contributes To An Increase In Interest In Islam

Imam of the American Center “Diyan” Dursun Shahin attracts the attention of social networks by a video on which he accompanies an American street musician.

Shakhin, who graduated from the theological faculty of Istanbul University after the secondary school of Samsun Imam Hatip, received a master’s degree at the University of Social Sciences named after Nezhmetin Erbakan and the Turkish musical conservatory.

He worked for 22 years in mosques in different provinces of Turkey, including the Ukuodar mosque. He has been an imam for the past 6 months in the American religious center in Maryland.

Imam attracts the attention of others, performing hymns and accompanying the instruments, which are played by street musicians in the iconic places of New York, helps to increase the interest of people in Islam.

Music means a wonderful reading of the Holy Quran

Shakhin told the Anadola agency that his life has changed thanks to Erbil Kuza, the imam appointed to their village in the 5th grade of primary school.

According to Shakhin, he was affected by reading the evening call for prayer, and then he became interested in music thanks to the songs that his grandfather listened to his radio. Shakhin noted that the call to the prayer that he read in Makama on Friday Namaz in 2001 was highly appreciated by a provincial mufti, after which he was appointed an imam.

He stated that after he began his duties, he went to the üsküdar Musiki music society, then went to the repertoire with various clergy and musicians, and 6 months ago he received a master’s degree at the University of Social Sciences named after Nezhmetin Erbakan (Necmettin Erbakan University Social Sciences University Turkish Music State ConservATORY RELIGIUS MUSIC Department).

Shakhin emphasized that music for him is “love”, and music for him means a wonderful reading of the Holy Koran, Adhan and Salah, as well as the good performance of the work of Moujin.

Pointing that the melody published by a trained voice has a greater influence on people, Shahin continued his words as follows:

For example, a group of guests from South America came to the mosque. During a visit to the mosque, I told them that I was engaged in music and they asked me: “Can you read something small? I read Salag, and at that moment I saw that people were crying, and tears flowing on their cheeks. Imagine that the other person does not know what you say, does not know what this means, but this sound, this timbre, these words can affect another person. “

So interest in religion was born both in Ukhudar and in America
