Imam with Turkish roots Emre Shahin, who grew up in Germany, helped 90 people in Islam.
33-year-old Emra Shahin was born in Berlin. At 20, the young man went to Istanbul to study theology. Five years later, Shahin continued his education in Jordan, where he stayed for one year.
Upon completion of education, Shahin returned to Berlin, where he began to serve by Imam in the Medin mosque, which is associated with the Islamic community “Millie Gay Migodes” (IgMG).
The last 3.5 years, Shahin serves in the Mevlan mosque, one of the symbolic religious objects of Berlin in the Kroyzberg area
Imam Shahin, who is fluent in Turkish, German and Arabic, reads Friday sermons in three languages, and also gives lessons to young people in the mosque in German.
In an interview with an anadol correspondent, Shahin, the father of two children, said that he dreamed of becoming an imam since childhood, and therefore often a name for people of this profession.
since I grew up in the Islamic community of Millie Geech, I always wanted to do something for the ummah. My father wanted me to become an engineer because my older brother and sister were engineers. However, I decided to become an imam, believing that if I could help save myself and the other person, this will be my greatest achievement, ”said Shahin.
Imam said that young people who come to the mosque speak better than Turkish, and in this regard, he gives lessons in German so that they can better understand the material. Classes in the mosque are attended by 150 people as a whole, ”he said.
Imam pointed out that not only Muslims come to the mosque, but also those who are interested in Islam.
According to Shakhin, for 3.5 years of ministry in the Mevlan mosque, 90 people received Islam. “In particular, in this ramazan, eight of our brothers and sisters became Muslims,” he said.
Shahin noted that most of those who come to the mosque to become Muslims already have an idea of Islam.
Imam said that some people have questions because they get stuck on any topic or have different perceptions received in the media. After these people receive answers to their questions, they choose Islam, ”he said.
According to Imam, he belongs to those who want to turn to another faith, as a teacher to their students, taking on a certain mission of the “bridge”.
Shakhin said that the community continues to support after people accept Islam.
“That’s why the Qalam course has been created in our community. We direct those who have already accepted Islam to these courses,” he said.
As a rule, those who come to the mosque and choose Islam are Germans, but there are those who came to Berlin as tourists, – added imam.
