The growth rate of the global economy will reach a minimum within 2023, but will accelerate again in 2024.
Such a statement was made by the director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgiev in an interview with CNBC on the fields of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“I see no reason to lower the forecast, but in 2023 the growth will slow down significantly. According to IMF forecasts, the pace will decrease by half a percentage point compared to 2022. Nevertheless, the good news is that this year we will reach a minimum , after which in 2024 we will finally see the acceleration of the growth of the world economy, ”she believes.
Georgieva warned that the central banks need to be careful and “do not remove the leg from the brake ahead of time”, since inflation “remains quite high.”
Since October 2021, the IMF has three times reduced the forecast of global growth. According to the latest data, the fund expects the global GDP to grow by 2.7% in 2023.
