Implementation of joint projects was discussed by WHO and Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan met with the head of the representative office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan Handa Kharmandzhi.

The press service of the department said that during the meeting, the Minister of Health Teymur Musaev emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations with the World Health Organization. According to him, over the past 30 years, significant work has been done in the context of mutual cooperation, a number of regional projects have been successfully implemented.

The minister also noted that the strengthening of primary health care is the basis of universal medical care. The importance of attracting medical workers, especially nurses, to intensive training for the development of this service, was emphasized. To this end, on the initiative of the Ministry of Health, next year, the Sumgait will be created in Sumgait. The main goal of creating the center is to increase the level of competence of medical personnel, as well as the training of local specialists in this area.

Pointing to many years of experience of WHO experts in the field of public health, Teimur Musaev emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects and the possibility of exchanging experience with specialists of Azerbaijani Medical University and medical colleges at the Ministry of Health.

In turn, Handy Harmandzhi expressed hope for the further successful development of cooperation. It was noted that in recent years, important efforts have been made in Azerbaijan to transform the healthcare system in order to strengthen it and achieve universal coverage of health services. Having emphasized the long-term close cooperation of Azerbaijan with the World Health Organization, Handy Harmandzhi expressed the willingness to help strengthen primary health care.

The Medical Expert of the Medical Expert of the WHO in Azerbaijan Halil Ibrahim noted that the Symposium to strengthen the nursing and obstetric affairs in Azerbaijan is held in Baku, organized by the Ministry of Health and other medical structures of Azerbaijan.

According to the results of the meeting, the parties agreed on the implementation of new joint projects (improvement of healthcare information systems; creating a joint group of readiness for emergency situations in the field of health care; cooperation to strengthen primary health care; technical work to create a training center). /p>
