Italy was saved by a minor Azerbaijani migrant. As Italian media write, the incident occurred on the coast of the Salento commune.
It is noted that at night a small vessel with 59 migrants was discovered in the port of Santa-Maria-di-Leuk. For their salvation, the operation of the local coast guard service was launched.
Among migrants are 44 men and 8 women, including seven minors from Azerbaijan, Syria, Palestine, Iran and Iraq.
Migrants will undergo identification procedures after the first checks. They will be accepted by volunteers of the Italian delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and will be placed in the shelter.
Investigative actions are currently being carried out to establish smugglers.
