In the American state of Louisiana, they first conducted the death penalty using nitrogen.
According to the American media, after the Supreme Court canceled the decision of the district judge on delaying the execution of the death sentence, the concluded Jesse Hoffman Jr. was punished.
Hoffman’s lawyer Cecilia Kappel said that the execution was “meaningless”, since the current state of the prisoner is “not similar” when he was 18 years old and he committed the murder.
It is noted that the execution of the death sentence regarding Hoffman was the first case in the American state of Louisian in 15 years. It was also the first case in the staff when the prisoner was executed using nitrogen.
In February, Hoffman filed a lawsuit against the state demanding a deferral of execution.
The defense side during the hearings in early March stated that the use of nitrogen is a “cruel” method in accordance with the US Constitution.
On March 12, the judge of the US District Court Shelley Dick issued a preliminary ban on the execution of the sentence using nitrogen. However, the US Supreme Court canceled this decision.
