During the archaeological excavations held in the antique city of Perr in the South-East Turkish province of Adyyaman, various finds were found, including the Roman period, a pile of large stone blocks, water channels and various architectural structures. Excavations in the ancient city of Perra began in 2001 and are still ongoing.
During the excavations that began in April of this year, the relief of the bull’s head was discovered on one of the funeral structures.
The director of the museum in Adyyaman Mehmet Alkan said that excavations of the current year are already coming to an end.
“For the first time, the relief of the head of a bull of 1800 years ago was found,” said the Alkan.
According to the director of the museum, discovered in the same area of the burial, make it possible to conclude that the bull was personified power and guarded the graves.
