Last week in some areas of the Arctic, the temperature rose above 30, which significantly exceeds the average for this time of the year, reported Edition The Independent.
Meteorologist from Great Britain Scott Duncan characterized temperature conditions in the region as “truly exceptional for any time of the year, but stunning for May.”
It is noted that the melting of ice and permafrost in the Arctic due to the increase in temperature leads to the emission of methane into the atmosphere and promotes global warming.
As an expert believes, due to the rapid warming in the future, such temperature races will be observed increasingly.
