The Armenian Parliament at an extraordinary meeting made changes to the Criminal Code of the country. Now for insults of politicians has a sentence in the form of imprisonment from one to three months, TASS reports.
Amendments accepted in two readings. The current legislation of Armenia provides penalties for insulting a person in the amount of from 100 to 3,000 minimum wages (the minimum salary in Armenia is established in the amount of 68 thousand drams, about $ 140). After making changes in the Criminal Code for repeated insults of the same person, including those engaged in journalistic, public, political activities, will be punished in the form of imprisonment from one to three months.
The Fraction “Prosperous Armenia” boycotted a parliament meeting on the amendments, explaining that in the document it was clearly not written out what was considered an insult.
