In Baku, they read sentence former high-ranking customs officer

In the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, the trial of Samira Mamedov, Azer Oruzhev and Javidan Ibrahimov, accused of inciting bribery and fraud, passes HaqQin.az.

At the meeting, chaired by the judge of Afghan Hajiyev, a sentence was read.

The court sentenced Mamedov and Ibrahimov for a suspended term, and Oruzhev – by 8 years of imprisonment.

According to the indictment, Samir Mamedov, having occupied a high post in the State Customs Committee, abused the official position and the fraud convinced someone else’s property.

Thus, uniting with other persons, in 2020, a fraudulently assigned 192 thousand 150 manat in a person who was engaged in business and was friends with him since childhood, after which it divided this money between the accomplices.

According to the indictment, Mamedov promised his friend to issue 2150 square meters of non-residential plot at 6 addresses owned by his company, and 2 hectares of land on which the building is located, and get a bunch confirming the ownership. Later he broke his promise.

In the interrogation in court, Samir Mamedov did not recognize himself guilty of charged charges. In his testimony, he noted that since 1991 led a joint business with the victim. He began working at the State Customs Committee in 2001 and was appointed to a leadership position. From 2018 to October 2020, he worked as a boss in one of the Offices of the State Customs Committee, and from October 2020 – the head of the customs post of Astarin Railway.

The criminal cases under the accused by the investigated authorities were initiated under articles 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing major damage) and 32.4 312.2 (intentional receipt of a bribe or incitement of an official for the country of bribes for intentional unlawful actions (inaction)) of the Criminal Code .
