In Baku, They Refuted Statements Of Yerevan On Issuance Of Compensation By Azerbaijani Deported From Armenia

Baku called the claims of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan that, supposedly, during the last deportation of the Azerbaijani, compensation was paid.

According to Ayhan Gadjizade, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan at the conference of ambassadors, these statements have no reason.

“Claims of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia are also absolutely unfounded that, allegedly, during the last deportation of the Azerbaijani, compensation was paid that they left the territory voluntarily. The fact that only in 1987-1991 as an integral part of the ethnic cleaning policy 216 Azerbaijanis were killed, once again proves what kind of suffering and bloodshed this policy was accompanied by, ”Gadjizade said.

He emphasized that the crowding out of Azerbaijanis from their historical lands after the mass relocation of Armenians to the South Caucasus over the past two hundred years is a historical fact. Azerbaijanis were expelled from their native lands on the territory of modern Armenia, where they lived for millennia, were subjected to massacres and reprisals, and thousands of cultural and historical monuments and settlements were also destroyed.

According to him, only in 1948-1953 about 150 thousand Azerbaijanis were forcibly deported. In the period from 1987 to 1991, another expulsion of more than 250 thousand Azerbaijanis occurred. All these events are confirmed by historical and legal documents.

“only in 1948-1953, about 150 thousand Azerbaijanis were massively and forcibly deported from their historical lands in the current territory of Armenia. At the same time in 1987-1991, the next deportation of Azerbaijanis from historical and ethnic lands occurred, as a result of which more 250 thousand Azerbaijanis were expelled from Armenia.

Hajizade noted that Armenia presents Azerbaijan’s use by the expression “the community of Western Azerbaijan” as “violation of international law” and “territorial claims”, which is “hypocrisy.”

“Deny by the officials of Armenia under various pretexts of the rights of Azerbaijanis to return to their native lands is a clear example of the goal of the” Azerbaijani “Azerbaijani territories pursued by them and obstructing by all means of the return of Azerbaijanis,” said the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry.

In addition, Hajizade indicated that the political statements of the former Armenian leaders who considered the presence of Azerbaijanis in the region a problem and pursued a policy of ethnic cleaning, also confirm the racist and chauvinistic nature of the Armenian ideology.
