The Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Rosen Christ said that the price of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is 50% more expensive than the supply of Russian gas under a contract with Gazprom. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of the country.
Christ noted that calculations based on the price formula for the current contract with Gazprom Export show that this gas is the cheapest after Azerbaijani. According to him, the price of two batches of liquefied natural gas with delivery through Greece in September, which was ordered by the previous government, is 50% higher than the supply of Russian Gazprom.
“We have a contract with Gazprom Export for the supply of 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas and an obligation to use at least 80% of this volume. If we do not, we will be obliged to pay for this regardless of whether we used gas or not So far, under this contract, we used 1 billion cubic meters, and should be 2.4 billion cubic meters. If we do not choose the remaining volume, we will most likely go to the arbitration with the ability to lose a large sum, ”he admitted.
The minister noted that Bulgaria at the moment least wants to deal with court cases, the potential outcome of which would be negative for her.
