The heads of the Committees of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the US Congress have reached an agreement on the draft law on the prohibition of energy imports from Russia and the suspension of normal trade relations with the Russian Federation and Belarus.
“We have reached the consent of the further legislative steps relating to the ban on the import of energy from Russia and the suspension of normal trade relations both with Russia and Belarus,” the leadership of the Committee on Incomes and Costs of the House of Representatives and the Finance Committee of the Senate, which quotes TASS.
Reuters with reference to the source in Congress reported that the voting on the initiative in the House of Representatives may be held on Tuesday. The bill, in particular, will give the US President with the authority to increase trade duties on products from Russia and Belarus. Also, the representative of the United States on the trade negotiations will have to strive to achieve the freezing of Russia’s participation in the WTO and the suspension of the entry into this organization of Belarus. The initiative also suggests that the US President will be able to restore normal trading relations with Russia and Belarus under certain conditions.
