Increase in the Flamingo population value is valuable
Deputy Director of the 7th Regional Department of Nature Protection and National Parks, Hilmi Chatal, told Anadol that the Middle Ages, accounting for waterfowl in the Eastern Mediterranean ended on January 17-22.
According to him, in Adan, Mersin, Hatai and Ottage, ornithologists recorded a total of 311,945 individuals of waterfowl. The most common look was Lysukha, followed by chicor-vystyns and flamingo, he explained.
“If, according to the results of the winter accounting of 2024, the number of flamingos was 11,268 individuals, then in 2025 this figure was already 23,303 individuals. Such an increase in the number of flamingos has greater value for us,” he said.
Chatal also spoke about the works carried out in the Chukurov delta. “The most important reason for an increase in the population is the protection and improvement of the habitat of these types. In this regard, we take all kinds of measures to combat poaching and prevent the destruction of ecosystems, ensuring effective protection and control within our regional administration,” he said.
Chatal noted that the control zone is one of the regions with the highest population of waterfowl in Turkey. Waterfowls are very important in terms of monitoring and tracking biodiversity, he added.
