Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Temirtau, Atyrau, Aktobe, Balkhash and Ust-Kamenogorsk were included in the list of cities of Kazakhstan with the most polluted air. This was reported at a press conference in Astana by the acting Chairman of the Committee of Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology of Kazakhstan Aidar Abdualiev.
Air Abdualiev divided the reasons for atmospheric air pollution in these eight settlements. “In Astana and Almaty, the main percentage of pollution falls on heat sources, thermal power plants and boiler houses, vehicles and private sector. In the cities of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Temirtau, the largest amount of emissions falls on industry. In the cities of Aktobe and Atyrau, the cause of high pollution is outdated sewage and treatment facilities” , – listed the acting Chairman of the Briefing Committee in the CCC.
According to Abdualiev, to solve these problems, the Ministry of Ecology, together with the akimat of the regions, developed road maps.
For them, by 2025, the Ministry of Ecology plans to reduce air pollution indicators in the indicated eight cities from a high level to medium. For this, seven new sewage and treatment facilities (KOSD) will be built and reconstructed 12 available.
The ministry also plan to build 24 new garbage training grounds and eliminate five crowded objects for waste accommodation.
