The Judicial System of Estonia considered the legally permissible issuance to Ukraine of the Russian citizen Raman Kurbanov, who is suspected of involvement in the custom -made murder of an Azerbaijani businessman in Odessa.
The murder of a 25-year-old citizen of Azerbaijan occurred in Odessa on August 3 last year. According to Ukrainian investigators, a 35-year-old Kurbanov born in Georgia, acting by preliminary conspiracy with his fellow countryman-a 27-year-old Georgian citizen Elmuraz Mamedov, arrived in Ukraine to commit an intentional murder of 25-year-old citizen Azerbaijan Lachin Mammadov.
Attackers were clearly divided by the duties: Kurbanov was a driver and observer at the situation at the place of murder, and Mamedov was a shooter.
On the day of the crime, the attackers arrived at the Mercedes acquired in advance with the Bulgarian numbers for a high -rise building on Malinovsky, where their future victim rented an apartment. Kurbanov remained in the car, and Mamedov went to wait for the “object”. As soon as the victim appeared near the house, the killer shot him with a submachine gun, jumped in a car and, together with Kurbanov, drove to Academician Filatov Street, where they left the car and fled.
.
After that, the men were put on the international wanted list. On February 19, 2021, Kurbanov was detained in Estonia. Then the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine sent its Estonian colleagues a petition for the extradition of Kurbanov in order to bring him to criminal liability.
Kharya district court on April 21 recognized the extradition of Kurbanov legally permissible. In May, the Tartu District Court also upheld this decision. At the same time, the Estonian lawyer Kurbanova asked to take into account that due to the war in Ukraine, the life of his client may be in danger.
The murdered Lachin Mammadov was a resident of the village of Irmashls of the Shamkirsky district. His activity was not limited only to small entrepreneurship, that is, sales. According to the National Police of Ukraine, in 2020-2021. L. Mamedov was engaged in racketeering (collecting money through threats) and robberies in the Odessa region.
