The head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Lyien warned that from the position of Russia, which has “military pressure” to Ukraine, will depend on the launch of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. She stated this in an interview with Les Echos and HandelsBlatt newspapers.
At the same time, the head of the European Commission believes that the gas pipeline “cannot be excluded from the sanctions list”, TASS reports.
At the same time, the village of der Lyien does not expect difficulties with the supply of Russian gas to the EU countries, since she assured, Gazprom fulfills its contractual obligations.
In the meantime, the selection of Russian gas by European consumers in the Ukrainian direction decreases the fourth day – after 107 million cubic meters on February 1, 91 million cubic meters on February 2, 82 million cubic meters on February 3 – an application for February 4 is already 70 million cubic meters, Interfax notes.
“North Stream-2”, which is laid through the Baltic Sea DNU, is intended for direct delivery of gas from suppliers in the Russian Federation to consumers in Europe. The estimated power of the pipeline is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
